CO.STARTERS Spotlight: Cameron House, Sunrise Media

People desire a sense of community, especially people in small businesses. They rely on their supporters and customers, but they also rely on the community and togetherness of those around them in the same boat as well. “Knowing the fact that there were other people in the same state as me and we’re all trying to figure out the next move.” Getting to be around other entrepreneurs in an open environment where you can discuss, collaborate and ask questions is vital to growth and your well-being. “Entrepreneurship has to be one of the loneliest things in this world.” Cameron House tells me, “I am the only one in my family and there’s definitely pressure.”

Cameron is the owner and operator of Sunrise Media in Jackson, TN. Sunrise Media is a visual production company, specializing in documenting life's experiences. They offer customized videography for you or your business.

Hand in hand with his videography skills, Cameron pairs his creativity and marketing prowess to help create customized content plans for businesses, making him an invaluable one-stop-shop to many business owners frustrated by social media and lacking resources to produce the content their business needs.

While he wasn’t originally on the path to the entrepreneur life, circumstance reshaped his destiny. A chance trip to an insurance conference woke up his entrepreneurial spirit.

“Why me? Was challenged with why not me?”

So four years ago Sunrise media began. He was invited to CO.STARTERS by program director Lisa Garner (he called this a ‘legit angel type of moment’) and decided to take a chance and join. “Everything in me said, ‘you need to do this.’”

Like many entrepreneurs, artists and other creatives he had felt drained and in need of guidance coming out of the pandemic that was 2020. “I was at a point where I knew what I wanted to do but I didn't know the right people. And even though I knew people in the business world there is something about making new-er connections.”

I asked him what the best piece of advice he could give regarding joining CO.STARTERS would be, “Just show up. That's 50% right there, and check your ego at the door” He laughs. “Everyone that was meant to do it, and did it right, made it all the way through. I met a lot of people who helped me to stay more accountable and vice versa.”

CO.STARTERS challenged him to not only think outside the box but think outside of Jackson TN, too. The relationships and sense of community that CO.STARTERS provided Cameron felt were invaluable. “Getting to meet everyone in the class was like a breath of fresh air.”

When asked what one of his favorite moments of the class was, Cameron easily recalled a moment where he could just be a friend to someone who needed it. The CO.STARTERS program not only can help you build your business, but helps you build supportive relationships with other entrepreneurs. “You get in that classroom, and you realize you’re not alone.”
