CO:bots Students Invited to Smithsonian & Google Competitions
Every Thursday night CO:bots students meet in the event space of theCO to practice building and operating their VEX Robots. At a glance, one might never know that the kids quietly tinkering and constructing in the back of the building are actually engineering some of the finest robots in the area and offer some fierce competition for other VEX students.
theCOtoberfest 2018
theCOtoberfest is theCO’s biggest celebration in the year, and is a time where the community can come enjoy the good things happening at theCO. As theCO has evolved, theCOtoberfest has changed with it, and every year more and more makers and artists get to showcase their talents. This year will include makers demos, a film festival, booths, games, and more!

Vets in Business
Austin Thompson graduated from high school in 1995, joined the army, and became an M1A1 Abrams Systems Mechanic. Which he says “is just a really fancy name for tank mechanic.” After basic training in Fort Knox in Kentucky, he got married just before being stationed in Korea for a year away from his family and wife. He sustained a back injury during a training accident in Korea, and was sent to Fort Raleigh in Kansas, where he got medically discharged.
Dev Catalyst Becomes CSforAll Member
“Support local change,” “increase rigor and equity,” and “grow the movement.” These are three things that one would see when first opening the CSforAll webpage. The CSforAll Consortium is a effort started by the National Science Foundation to make computer science accessible for all students nationwide. Recently, the organization has added Dev Catalyst, a program of theCO, as a new consortium member alongside big tech companies like Google, Dell, Facebook, and Teach For America.
