Are You Ready For 731Day?

Written by Hannah Freeland

Over the past few years, 731Day has quickly become a central element of Jackson, Tennessee as individuals, families, and businesses come together to celebrate this community.

This year will be no different as we look forward to a Monday full of events, involvement opportunities, chances to support local businesses through special 731 deals, and — of course — Porchfest, the evening finale. Aside from Porchfest, Our Jackson Home is also specifically hosting the 8th Annual Water Balloon Fight alongside Town and Country Realtors as “the last party of the summer!”

Courtney Searcy, Program Director at Our Jackson Home speaks to the excitement surrounding 731Day. “I think that people are excited about 731Day because it is a day that basically anyone in the community can celebrate in their own way,” Searcy says. She continues, “It’s both a day to appreciate local businesses and artists and restaurants and all the things that make our community special and make it what it is.”

Porchfest is a large and highly anticipated component of this celebration. This year, it will be taking place in the historic Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association where families and friends can sit and enjoy the live music, food trucks, community, and fun.

Searcy also comments on the appeal of Porchfest and why Our Jackson Home continues to put it on each year. “I think Porchfest is a great way for us to celebrate 731Day because I think people getting to gather in a neighborhood — even if they don’t live there — they’re getting together in a neighborhood and enjoying music that is rooted in Jackson and West Tennessee,” she says.

The sentiment of not living in a neighborhood also extends to those who are not originally from the Jackson area. “You get to connect with people who live in Jackson and just spend time together celebrating and enjoying community,” Searcy concluded. The overall appeal of togetherness continues to draw people in to 731Day.

Beginning at 5:00 PM, you can enjoy live music from Hunter Cross & The Lost Boys, Ajèd, Rob & Jay, Carita Cole, and Erin Rae across 3 stages on the 500 Block of Division Avenue. You also don’t want to miss out on Seb’s Shaved Ice, Stacey’s Ice Cream Cruiser, Moondog Makers & Bakers, and Congettas Chi-Italian Favorites.
